Hoffmann, Erich (1908 - 1981)

 
Analytical chemist
Born: 1908.  Died: 20 October 1981.
Erich Hoffmann headed the Paint Group of CSIRO’s (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation) Division of Building Research from his arrival in Melbourne in 1957 until his retirement in 1972. He was the first to chemically investigate the fungicides in the paint film and developed many paint formulations for use in moist interior and exterior locations varying from Housing Commission kitchens to claddings for housing in Papua New Guinea. Prior to joining CSIRO he worked as a Research Chemist for Timbrol Ltd.
