Gabriel, Gordon Escott (1885 - 1964)

Mining engineer

Born: 27 September 1885 Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. Died: 11 August 1964.

Gordon Escott Gabriel worked for the New South Wales Department of Mines 1930-52, being appointed Inspector of Mines in 1934. After his retirement from the Department he worked as a Consulting Mining Engineer and Director of Tullabong Tin Syndicate.

1919 - 1923 Experimental Metallurgist, then Chief Assayer, at Junction North Mine Broken Hill
1924 - 1930 Manager of the South Comet Lead and Zinc Mine
1930 Joined the New South Wales Department of Mines
1934 - 1952 Inspector of Mines for the New South Wales Department of Mines
1940 - 1942 War service with the Royal Australian Engineers
c. 1952 - Consulting Mining Engineer and Director of Tullabong Tin Syndicate
