Borten, Simon (1897 - 1988)

 
Analytical chemist
Born: 25 October 1897  Kolomeya, Austria.  Died: 25 April 1988.
Simon Borten came to Australia in 1935 to work for the Lawrence Fur Dressing and Dyeing Company. He set up major operations in Australia and New Zealand and became managing director of the company, retiring in 1951.

Born Kolomeya, Austria (now Ukraine), 25 October 1897. Died 25 April 1988. Educated University of Vienna (PhD 1924). Hollander Fur Dressing and Dyeing Company, Paris 1925-29, becoming manager of the Paris factory, chemist, main factory, New York 1929-35, Lawrence Fur Dressing and Dyeing Company, Australia 1935-51, setting up major operations in Australia and New Zealand and becoming managing director of the company, ran his own business 1951-55, consultancy work with the textile industry from 1955.
