Basden, Ralph (1894 - 1976)

 
Science educator
Born: 2 November 1894  Croydon, New South Wales, Australia.  Died: 25 March 1976.
Ralph Basden was Principal of Newcastle Technical College 1940-59 and University Warden of Newcastle University College 1951-59. His scientific research was concerned with the chemistry of the excretions of insects which live on eucalyptus trees. He is commemorated by portrait by Joshua Smith and the Basden Theatre lecture theatre at the University of Newcastle.
