Whitfeld, Hubert Edwin (1875 - 1939)

Born: 14 March 1875  Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.  Died: 31 July 1939  Perth, Western Australia, australia.
Hubert Edwin Whitfeld was foundation professor of mining and engineering at the University of Western Australia 1913-27 and the first vice-chancellor from 1927 until his death. The university moved to its site at Crawley under his direction in the early 1930s and he contributed much to the layout and landscaping of the campus. He is commemorated by a memorial bust (by John Dowie) which stands in Whitfeld Court at the University.
