Les Watson worked at the Taxonomy Unit of the Research School of Biological Sciences, Australian National University from 1969 to 1994. In the early 1970s with Mike Dallwitz he developed DELTA (Description Language for Taxonomy), an international standard format for automated taxonomic databases. Before coming to Australia Watson studied at the University of Manchester (BSc, MSc) then worked at Kew Gardens, and as an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Southampton, UK (ca 1961-1969). |
