Born: 9 August 1860 Hackney, England. Died: 15 February 1940 Bellview Hill, New South Wales, Australia. | |
Francis Henry V. Voss practised medicine in Rockhampton, Queensland from 1887-1929. He improved the only maternity ward, separated it administratively from the Benevolent Asylum and established a training school for nurses. In 1900 he bult his own private hospital and was a pioneer among private practitioners in establishing his own pathology laboratory. |

Intern, London Hospital, Whitechapel Infirmary 1884, government health officer and locum tenens, Bowen, Queensland 1885-86, private practice, Rockhampton 1887-1929, assistant immigration agent, quarantine area 1887, government medical officer 1888-1927, visiting government surgeon from 1891. Built his own private hospital 1900.Surgeon-captain of local naval volunteers in the Queensland Defence Force and commanded the Rockhampton branch of the Ambulance Corps. Foundation fellow, Royal Australasian College of Surgeons 1927. |
