Born: 9 December 1936  Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Arthur James McComb has been Professor of Environmental Science at Murdoch University since 1989. Before that he had been with the Department of Botany at the University of Western Australia since 1963. He is interested in the control of plant growth in aquatic systems.

Born Melbourne, 9 December 1936. Educated Universities of Melbourne (BSc 1956, MSc 1959) and Cambridge (PhD 1962). Lecturer, Department of Botany, University of Western Australia 1963-67, Senior Lecturer 1968-76, Associate Professor 1977-89, Head of Department 1981-86, Joint Director, Centre for Water Research 1982-90, Professor of Environmental Science, Murdoch University 1989-. Hilary Jolly Award, Australian Society for Limnology 1991; Fellow, Australian Academy of Science 1995; Royal Society of Western Australia Medal 1997. Chairman, Herdsman Lake Management Advisory Committee 1986-91; President, Royal Society of Western Australia 1978; President, Ecological Society of Australia 1987-88; Chairman, Western Australian Lands and Forests Commission 1988-98; Chairman, Western Australian National Parks and Nature Conservancy Authority 1991-95.
