Surveyor
Born: 17 June 1855  Clanfield, Hampshire, England.  Died: 3 December 1935.
Frederick Poate came to Australia in 1877. He worked as a surveyor in various country districts of New South Wales, eventually becoming surveyor-general and chief surveyor 1911-16.He was also a trustee of the Australian Museum in Sydney.
