Born: 17 December 1886 Burwood, New South Wales, Australia. Died: 31 August 1962 Lewisham, New South Wales. | |
Horace Henry Nowland was medical superintendent of the Hospital for the Insane at Gladesville from 1926 to 1950. He was an outstanding administrator with progressive methods and an enlightened approach to the treatment of the mentally ill. Some of his many other appointments included Director of Mark Foy's and the Hydro-Majestic Hotel at Medlow Bath; Chariman of By-Products and Chemicals Pty Ltd and President of the diocesan council of the Holy Name Society's diocesan union and of the Catholic Luncheon Club for nearly 30 years. |
