| John Landy, an agricultural scientist with a particular interest in butterflies, was a world record holder and Olympic Medallist for the mile during the 1950s. He has written two books on natural history. |
Career Highlights |
| Studied agricultural science at University of Melbourne. Has worked as research and development manager, Rural Division, ICI and Chairman, Wool Research and Development Corporation. Foundation member, Land Conservation Council, Board member and Chair, Australian National Insect Collection Fund. Has written two books: "Close to Nature, a Naturalist's Diary of a Year in the Bush" and "A Coastal Diary, a Study of one of Australia's Wildest and Most Beautiful Coastlines". Landy was also an athlete who in the 1950s set Australian and world records for the mile and won Olympic and Empire games medals. |
