Edward Micklethwaite Curr managed properties in Victoria and Queensland, imported horses to New Zealand, was inspector and chief inspector of sheep and later chief inspector of stock in Victoria. He published works on Australian aborigines. |
Career Highlights |
Educated at Stonyhurst College in Lancashire, UK and spent a year in Quincy, France to learn French. Managed his father's properties in Victoria 1841-50, travelled in Europe and the Middle East 1851-54, imported horses from New South Wales to New Zealand 1854-56, pastoral activities in Queensland 1856-61, imported horses to New Zealand 1862, inspector of sheep, Victoria 1862-64, chief inspector 1864-71, chief inspector of stock 1971-?. Published "The Australian Race: its origins, languages, customs" (4 vols) in 1886-87. |
