Carter, Alan Norval (1926 - 1989)

 
Geologist and Marine scientist
Born: 1926  Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.  Died: November 1989.
Alan Norval Carter worked in the School of Applied Geology, University of New South Wales from 1960 to 1987. He was particularly interested in marine research.

Career Highlights
Born Melbourne, 1926. Died November 1989. Educated University of Melbourne (BSc, MSc, PhD). Geological Survey of Victoria (early in his career), Department of Applied Geology, University of New South Wales 1960-87. A Department of Oceanography was established within the School of Applied Geology as a result of his efforts. Foundation Member, Australian Marine Science Association.
