Alwyn James Arnott was McCaughey Professor of Dentistry, University of Sydney, 1935-64. He was a driving force behind the building of a new dental hospital in 1939 and its extensions in the 1940s. |

Born Sydney, 20 December 1899. Died Sydney, 5 January 1973. CBE 1964. Educated University of Sydney (BDSc 1922, DDSc 1929). Superintendent, United Dental Hospital, Sydney 1924-33; McCaughey Professor of Dentistry, University of Sydney 1935-64; war service as dentist 1939-45. Fairfax Reading prize for service and contribution to dental science 1956. |
