King, Philip Gidley (the younger) (1817 - 1904)

Born: 31 October 1817  Paramatta, New South Wales, Australia.  Died: 5 August 1904  Double Bay, New South Wales, Australia.
Philip Gidley King sailed with his father P.P. King on the HMS "Adventure" 1826 -30 and became a midshipman on the "Beagle" in 1831. Both ships conducted hydrographic surveys of the South American coast and King became a life-long friend of Charles Darwin.
