Steel, Thomas (1858 - 1925)

Chemist and Naturalist
Born: 8 September 1858  Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland.  Died: 17 August 1925  Killara, New South Wales, Australia.
Thomas Steel worked as laboratory chemist for the Colonial Sugar Refining Co. from 1882. From 1892 he was a chemist at the company's head office in Sydney until he retired in 1918. A keen naturalist from boyhood, he edited the "Australian Naturalist" 1911-25.
