Born: 1804  Dunkeld, Scotland.  Died: 1849  Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
John Arthur was Melbourne's first botanical gardener. He arrived in Port Phillip in the first Scottish migrant barque, the "David Clark", in 1839.
