Cane, William Lancashire (1911 - 1987)

Born: 1911  Carlton, Victoria, Australia.  Died: 18 January 1987.
William Lancashire Cane was one of the small band of people who founded the Society for Growing Australian Plants.

Career Highlights
Born Carlton, Victoria, 1911. Died 18 January 1987. Work on a local farm ca 1925-28; rabbit trapping, Little Plain near Valencia Creek; beekeeper; nursery, Maffra 1947-87, developing techniques for striking cuttings and propagating Australian natives by leaf culture; found a new species of Banksia, named Banksia canei. Medallion, Victorian Beekeepers' Association; winner of many major awards for his honey.
