Black, Robert Hughes (1917 - 1988)

Born: 20 December 1917  Sydney?, New South Wales, Australia.  Died: 1988.
Robert Hughes Black was Professor of Tropical Medicine at the University of Sydney from 1963 to 1982. He also worked at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (1946-1948) before joining the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, Sydney in 1951. Black also worked as a consultant physician at St Vincents Hospital, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Prince Henry's Hospital. He was educated at the Universities of Sydney (MB, BS) and Liverpool (Dip. Tropical Medicine and Health, ED, MD, Dip Anth) and served as a captain and physician with the Australian Army Medical Corps during World War II.
