Vancouver, George (1757 - 1798)

Born: 22 June 1757  King's Lynn, Norfolk, England.  Died: 18 May 1798  Petersham, Surrey, England.
George Vancouver was sent by the British Admiralty in 1791 to chart the coast of New Holland and Van Diemen's Land. He also explored the South Pacific and the north west coasts of America.
