Born: 12 March 1897  Kangaroo Point, Queensland, Australia.  Died: 5 November 1956  Hawthorn, Victoria, Australia.
Oscar Werner Tiegs was Professor of Zoology, University of Melbourne 1948-56. He had earlier been an Associate Professor and Lecturer at Melbourne. Tiegs was appointed Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS) in 1944 and was a Foundation Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science (FAA, 1954).
