Thomson, James Park (1854 - 1941)

Geographer and Astronomer
Born: 20 June 1854  Unst, Shetland Islands, Scotland.  Died: 10 May 1941  Kilcoy, Queensland, Australia.
James Park Thomson was the founder, in 1885, of Royal Geographical Society of Australasia, Queensland Branch, was president 1894-97 and edited its "Journal". He had a private observatory and was responsible for the adoption of the zonal system for reckoning time.
