Newnham, Ivan Edgar (1919 - 1986)

Mineral chemist
Born: 6 November 1919  Victoria, Australia.  Died: 4 September 1986.
Ivan Edgar Newnham was Director of the CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation) Institute of Earth Resources from 1979. He was previously Chief of CSIRO's Division of Mineral Chemistry (1961-1970) and Director of the Mineral Research Laboratories (1971-1978). During his thirty-seven year tenure with CSIRO he made numerous significant contributions, including the introduction of research planning for commercialisation.
