Born: 17 February 1830 Brunswick, Germany. Died: 19 February 1881 Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

Johann Ludwig G. Krefft was naturalist to the Victorian Government Collecting Expedition to northern Victoria under Wilhelm Blandowski 1857-58, and was Assistant Curator of the Australian Museum, Sydney 1860-64 and then Curator 1864-76.
