Born Ipswich, England, 17 December 1920. Died Adelaide, 16 February 1999. Educated Royal College of Science and University of Edinburgh (PhD 1947, DSc 1949). Meterorological Officer, Royal Air Force 1941-45; ICI Fellow, University of Edinburgh 1947-49; member, Institute of Advanced Studies, Princeton 1949-50; Professor, Dublin Instute of Advanced Studies 1950-51; Professor of Mathematical Physics, University of Adelaide 1951-85 and sometime Dean, Faculty of Mathematical Sciences. Fellow, Australian Academy of Science 1954; Fellow, Australian Institute of Physics; Life Member, Australian Mathematical Society. President, Australian Mathematical Society 1974-76. Wrote Information Theory and Quantum Physics: Physical Foundations for Understanding the Conscious Process. |
