Earth scientist and Surveyor
Born: 8 August 1779  Montélimar, Drôme, France.  Died: 18 August 1842.
Louis-Claude D. de Freycinet was part of the expedition sent to complete the French cartographic survey of Australia and conduct other scientific investigations 1800-4. He sailed aboard "Le Naturaliste". In 1817 he sailed with Duperrey to study terrestial magnetism.
