Geologist

Born: 13 December 1832 Hemingford Abbots, Huntingdonshire, England. Died: 20 June 1878 Beckenham, Kent, England.

Richard Daintree was a member of the Geological Survey of Victoria in 1854-56 and 1858-64, the first Government Geologist of Northern Queensland 1868-70, Agent-General for Queensland, and an accomplished photographer. He is commemorated by the Daintree River and Daintree Rainforest in North Queensland.
