Busby, George (1798 - 1870)

Born: 18 December 1798  England.  Died: 29 January 1870  Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia.
George Busby was Assistant Colonial Surgeon at the Norfolk Island penal settlement 1826-28 and then the officer in charge of the Convict Hospital at Bathurst. In 1842 this hospital became the Bathurst District Hospital.

Born England, 18 December 1798. Died Bathurst, 29 January 1870. LRCS Edinburgh. Arrived Sydney in "Elizabeth" 1825; assistant colonial surgeon 1826-44; served Norfolk Island, Moreton Bay, Newcastle and Bathurst; private practice, Bathurst; magistrate 1850. Son of John Busby and brother of James Busby (qq.v.).
