Born: 1852  France.  Died: 17 December 1893  Sydney Harbour, New South Wales, Australia.
Edmond Marie Marin la Meslée came to Australia from France in 1876 and joined the New South Wales Department of Lands and the Surveyor-General's Office in 1878. He was primarily responsible for founding the Geographical Society of Australasia. Its first meeting was in 1883.
