Cracknell, Edward Charles (1831 - 1893)

Born: 1831  Rochester, Kent, England.  Died: 14 January 1893  Woollahra, New South Wales, Australia.
Edward Charles Cracknell was Assistant Superintendent of Telegraphs in South Australia 1855-57 and in New South Wales 1858-60. He was appointed Superintendent in 1861. He researched and developed torpedoes for the defence of Sydney Harbour firing the first torpedo in 1871.
