This release reminds me of the development of the discipline of computational
chemistry a few decades earlier. Along with lobbying for a
national center for computational chemistry (which never
materialized), the computational chemists also formed an institution called
the Quantum Chemistry Program Exchange (QCPE), a clearinghouse for
sharing programs and documentation. I wonder if the computational biologists
have something similar?
