Born Blaris Lodge, Down, Ireland, 23 November 1859; died Melbourne 23 November 1928. Education Melbourne University (C.E. 1881, M.C.E. 1885). Engineer, Victorian Railways, 1880-81; N.S.W. Government Railways, 1881; Huntley Shire, Victoria, 1882-85. Consulting engineer, Melbourne, 1885-91, 1909-12. Lecturer in surveying, Melbourne University, 1891-1904; demonstrator in engineering 1896-1904; lecturer in civil engineering 1905-09. Engineer, Fowler & Tuxen, 1912-13. Engineer-in-chief and permanent head, Public Works Department, Tasmania, 1913-18.
