Born Sunbury, Middlesex, England, 8 August 1886; died Sydney 8 July 1965. Radio engineering, Marconi Co., 1906-13; Australian representative 1911-13. General manager, A.W.A. Ltd., 1913-16; managing director 1916-44; chairman 1932-44. Managing director, E.M.I. Ltd., London, 1944-52. Knighted 1937.
