A. J. Mencel was involved in the radio relay system installed between Alice Springs and Tennant Creek in 1980. It involved 13 solar powered repeaters, housed in below ground shelters to ensure small ambient temperature vatiations without air-conditioning; and was the first such system in Australia. |
