N. B. Lewis worked for the Woods and Forests Department in South Australia from at least 1957 to 1980. He was an advocate for thinning, having studied it in other parts of the world as a Russell Grimwade Scholar and in 1963 produced a guide to the 'Optimum thinning range of Pinus radiata in South Australia. He was also the author of A Hundred Years of State Forestry, South Australia, 1875-1975 (1975). |
