Fornachon, John Charles Macleod (1905 - 1968)

Born: 28 December 1905  Wayville, South Australia, Australia.  Died: 25 August 1968  Adelaide, South Australia.
John Charles M. Fornachon was appointed to the staff of the Waite Agricultural Research Institute in 1935. Over the next twenty years he established an international reputation for his studies on bacterial spoilage of fortified wines and on the microbiology of flor sherry. He became foundation Director of the Australian Wine Research Institute 1955-68. He lectured on wine microbiology at the University of Adelaide and Roseworthy Agricultural College and was regarded as the technical spokesman of the Australian wine industry on a variety of matters.
