John Mervyn Fielding worked for the Forestry and Timber Bureau from at least 1938 to 1969. In 1938 he was placed in charge of a research station at Mount Burr in South Australia, in collaboration with the Woods and Forests Department. He studied variations in Monterey pine and his work, with that of others, led in 1957 to the establishment of the first seed orchard for radiata pine. |
