Born: 26 March 1859 Whitby, Yorkshire, England. Died: 21 January 1934 Darling Point, New South Wales, Australia. | ||
(Sir) William Clarkson was sent to visit Japan, the USA and the UK to study naval dockyards and ship construction in 1907. He remained in the UK 1908-11 overseeing the building of destroyers for the Commonwealth Naval Forces, which became in 1911 the Royal Australian Navy Fleet Unit. |
