Best, Charles Herbert (1899 - 1978)

Physiologist
Born: 27 February 1899  Canada.  Died: 31 March 1978.
Charles Herbert Best, together with Frederick Banting, isolated insulin from the pancreas in 1921 and showed its use in the treatment of diabetes. He also studied cardiovascular disease and established the clinical use of heparin as an anticoagulant for blood in the treatment of thrombosis.
