Banfield, Henry Evans (1887 - 1974)

Born: 1887  Bega, New South Wales, Australia.  Died: 3 August 1974.
Henry Evans Banfield served in the AIF in the First World War and was awarded the Military Cross for outstanding bravery. After the war he transferred from the Postmaster General's department to the Bureau of Meteorology in Sydney. After time in Brisbane and Melbourne he took up a position in Adelaide in 1938. He served in the RAAF Meteorological Service during the Second World War, was Regional Director, Bureau of Meteorology, Tasmania, and then Regional Director, South Australia, 1948-1952, retiring in 1952.
