Born: 7 November 1850 Orkney Islands, Scotland. Died: 15 October 1936 Adelaide, South Australia, Australia. | ||
David Shearer, with his brother John, set up as farm implement makers in Mannum, South Australia in 1877. They took out a number of patents and the business expanded. He is credited with inventing the first steam automobile in Australia and differential gears. |
