Born: 16 May 1887 South Yarra, Victoria, Australia. Died: 29 January 1954. | ||
Leslie John Clendinnen was the son of Frederick John Clendinnen. He was apprenticed to his father as a radiologist, succeeding him on his death. He also succeeded him as honorary skiagraphist at the Melbourne Hospital in 1914, later becoming the first radiotherapist there in 1929. He was a pioneer in Australia of the interstitial use of radium needles in the treatment of malignant tumours. |

Apprenticed to his father 1911-13, took over the practice 1913, honorary skiagraphist, Melbourne Hospital 1914-29, Caulfield Military Hospital during World War I, first radiotherapist, Melbourne Hospital 1929-33, radiotherapist, Prince Henry's Hospital 1933-53. Council member, Medical Defence Association of Victoria for 22 years. Trustee, Wilson's Promontory National Park and Sir Colin Mackenzie Sanctuary at Healesville. | |
