Born: 18 August 1869 Windsor, New South Wales, Australia. Died: 17 September 1955 Darlinghurst, New South Wales. | |||
James Douglas Stewart moved to Scotland to study veterinary science (BVSc) and became a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, London upon the completion of his studies. When he returned to Australia Stewart was appointed honorary veterinary surgeon to the New South Wales Zoological Society and went on to become the first Professor of Veterinary Science at the University of Sydney (1910-39). Stewart was a founder of the Veterinary Medical Association of New South Wales and a President of many veterinary associations and boards. |
