Joseph Bosisto, a qualified pharmacist, arrived from England in 1848 to work for F.H. Faulding in Adelaide. He later set up business in Richmond, Victoria and became famous for products incorporating eucalyptus oil. He was a life-long friend of F. Mueller. |

Born Leeds, England, 21 March 1824. Died Rochmond, Victoria, 8 November 1898. CMG 1886. Apprenticed to a druggist and gained certificates in 1847 from the Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain. Arrived Adelaide 1848; worked for F.H. Faulding 1848-51; Forest Creek goldfields 1851-52; set up pharmacy at Richmond 1852; his eucalyptus oil products sold in Britain, Europe, India and South Africa; partner of Felton and Grimwade 1882-85; became their subsidiary 1885; mortgaged his share to his partners 1889; served for 12 years on Richmond Municipal Council, mayor 1865-67; member for Richmond, Legislative Assembly 1874-89; introduced pharmacy bill 1876; member for Jolimont and West Richmond 1892-94. A founder and later president, Pharmaceutical Society of Victoria 1857. | ||
