Reference: | TRC 3486 |
Date Range: | 12 September 1996 - 4 October 1996 |
Description: | 8 digital audio tapes (c. 480 minuted) and 182 page transcript. Clyne talks about how her early interest in natural history was triggered by discoveries in her large suburban garden on Sydney's North Shore ("The Jungle Garden" book and documentary). Clyne describes the destruction of this garden for duplex development after she sold it five years ago. She also provides an account of her work with her business partner, the cameraman Jim Frazier, on David Attenborough's "Life on Earth" and the "Trials of Life" TV series. Clyne also reflects of the development of macrophotography in Australia, which she helped to pioneer, especially of living insects and spiders. She also talks about the most significant of the 30 or so books she has written as well as her writing style and she then gives the background to the most memorable of the documentary natural history production that she had worked on. Clyne then reads from some of her publications. |
